Beginning (Extended)
The many things that set apart Vermillion from the other children her age spurred from not her birth, but her unknown death.
The life she was born into was one of many linear paths that it could go down, being born in a lab like wild stock and kept alive only for experiments. Through many minutes, hours, and years of being experimented on with highly potent drugs that would slowly turn her neurotic, she lost all sense of feeling and passed out when awake. It wasn't like she could forget everything that happened, but entering a trance like state was the only way she could cope with the pain.
The experiments usually dealt with taking the life of another person her age and infusing their spirit into augmented weapons they were given, much like that of a Soul Weapon, however, the soul itself powered it. Two machine revolvers which she had heard were called 'Magnus' at some point. She and her opponent were given one revolver each and fought to the death. Each time, she killed them easily but she never remembered exactly how it happened. It didn't matter though, since the scientist always congratulated her afterward and walked around the lab with her. Slowly, she began to enjoy the sounds of her opponents begging for their lives. The site of their blood hitting the ground and their souls being absorbed made her shiver with pleasure.
But there was one child who was better. She wielded her weapon with an expertise fitting a veteran and had a blood lust that seemed to spur from demons. She killed Vermillion. That's what she thought. A powerful shot to the head, absorbing all of her chakra and making it explode inside of her. But that wasn't the case. That was the moment Vermillion obtained her trance forms, as well as the time she lost all ability to use elemental chakra. She awoke to the lab burning and the girl who had killed her torn to pieces at her feet. The site was beyond beautiful and made her happy that someone would do such a thing just for her. But it also made her sad, a loneliness that entered her, making her feel like there was still one last shred of humanity left in her. One wouldn't be able to tell this by looking as she took the remains of the girl who had killed her and stitched her back together, taking her as her first 'doll'.
She did the same to every other body in the lab, her birth parents included. She hadn't known that she had killed them all, in a sense, but nevertheless, she was free. With two interchangeable weapons in hand, the 'Magnus' weapon and the sense that something inside of her was always stirring, waiting to be awakened, she merely walked off into the first village she could see, hoping to find a place or purpose of any sort. Something to make her forget everything that happened, or at least, replace her old memories with new ones. But most importantly, she wanted to expand her collection of dolls...
